- Mode of Action: Mohexxaa acts as a sterol biosynthesis inhibitor (SBI). It targets the biosynthetic pathway responsible for sterol production, which is essential for maintaining fungal cell membrane structure and function. By inhibiting the enzyme 14α-demethylase, Mohexxaa prevents the conversion of lanosterol into ergosterol—an essential sterol in fungal cell membranes. This disruption increases membrane permeability, interferes with fungal growth, and ultimately leads to the death of the fungus.
